Red Card!

I'm sad to say that the fury following the recent Council Elections still continues unabated. Difficult to talk to anyone right now without being accused in one way or another, and I really do think it's time some people put down their sharp sticks, and time for others to cease firing up the anger.
To make a small analogy, it's a bit like footballers arguing with the decision of the ref, and in an election, the referee is the electorate. The electorate has spoken, now shut up and get on with it, or receive a Red Card and get off the pitch.
Some of the arguments I've heard in the last few days really belong in the 'So What' department, bordering on 'Sour Grapes'. I mean, really!? So What if some established councillors have been mentoring, teaching and helping prospective new councillors. Is it illegal? God help us, encouraging interest in the council should be praised, not derided. So What if the parents of one councillor didn't stand for prayers, its their choice, their prerogative, and has no bearing on council business. So What if new councillors got together before the meeting and divided up the the spoils of Chairmanships! Isn't this the way it always happens? Don't we always know who will be the next Mayor before the meeting? Aren't some minority and dissenting councillors always excluded? So What if one of the new councillors served on an Inner London Council in the past. So What if a group of potential councillors formed a single group to help each other, and so what if they already have an agenda, so what too if they have the kind of majority that can make change happen. So What if the new configuration gives more power to LRDT and Lyme Forward. So What if none of the candidates polled 50% of the vote, they never do.
Over the past year I've witnessed a lot of sniping and backbiting amongst the 'old' council, mostly because the council was in the control of the 'old guard', I've heard a thousand times how much we need change, forward thinking, and new blood. Well, there you go, you puts out the ballot papers, and you takes your choice. The electorate, or the good citizens of Lyme, have voted for change, they voted vociferously for a new council, and the best that can be said is that you get what you wish for.
If I might add a personal thought, it would seem to me from electoral statements made by all candidates, and reflected in the choice of Mayor, that one mandate stands out above all others:
A Fairer Share for Lyme.
