You Can't Please Everyone!

So 'V', you don't think that 3,000 plus hits a day, rising to a peak, so far, of more than 4,000 is very impressive. Understandably, you qualified your statement by saying 'for an international' site, but then, is it international business you're really interested in? Sure, we get a lot of international hits, a lot from the USA, but we are personal to Lyme Regis, a small seaside town with a population of around 3 and a half thousand people. The visitors to our site are spread throughout the UK, and are either regular visitors to Lyme already, or potential visitors who get their first impressions of Lyme from our WONDERFUL website. You compared us to another website getting more than a million hits a day! But you know, the site you compared us to is reporting on an abducted child who gets reported in the national press and on TV every day. We thought it was, not just a negative analogy, but one in very bad taste.
We're reporting on, and enhancing the wonderful town in which we live. The best local newspaper in town has a circulation of around 4,000 weekly. We do that every day, and not just in Lyme Regis, but all over the UK.
Besides which, we're providing a service to Lyme in bringing people here.
We don'tmind that you're not having an advert, but you didn't even compliment us on our programmes! And you go down in history with us, you're the first person in Lyme, or anywhere else to put us down for doing something that we volunteer for. We do this for nothing, we don't get paid for it, we're not funded, and we have a good time.
And you know, after you were so positive about having an advert last week, and because you gave us all the details, all the info that you wanted on your advert, and even a CD for the music you wanted, (which we offered to do free because you're a 'friend'), we went home and did 4 hours work preparing your ad. We don't mind that at all, we do mind being criticised for not getting enough hits to the site when we've worked so hard, and everyone else in town knows how much work and effort we put in.
Considering the business you're in, we thought your comments were negative in the extreme, and dammitall, we're made of sterner stuff, we're not downhearted, and we'll carry on giving our great service to Lyme, and long after you've gone, we'll still be here.
We've been doing LymeRegisRadio for three years now, we've built a great team around us, we haven't had any big time backing, we still do it on a shoe string and we're at present, according to Google, the 10th most popular Lyme Regis site in all the world, and still rising, watch our smoke.........
